Small rituals that create a little breathing room before the day begins.

Make a little space

A slower morning does not have to mean waking an hour earlier. It can start with giving the first few minutes a single purpose. Open the curtains, prepare a drink, and sit somewhere comfortable before adding another activity.

Choose a version that fits your household. If mornings are busy, a few quiet minutes after everyone leaves may be more realistic than a carefully planned sunrise routine.

Prepare one thing tonight

Put a mug beside the kettle, choose the clothes you want to wear, or leave your notebook on the table. One small decision made in advance can make the morning feel less crowded.

Keep preparation modest. The point is to help tomorrow feel easier, not to give tonight a long list of tasks.

Keep the ritual yours

Read a page, look out of the window, or write down one thing you want to make time for. There is no particular activity you need to choose.

Let the ritual be short enough that you can return to it on an ordinary day. A habit that fits naturally into your life is easier to enjoy than one that requires everything to go perfectly.
